Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) has been plagued myriad Please insert the Microsoft Flight Simulator Game Disc errors for those who purchased the game online. Because it was purchased as a digital download, the disc simply doesn’t exist.
There’s lots of coverage online that prompts the user to reinstall the game and some other troubleshooting. I have some pretty aggressive ad blocking running on my network (thanks, NextDNS!), so I was pretty convinced it was that.
After a bit of troubleshooting I found that MSFS gets its digital licence from here: collections.md.mp.microsoft.com. Adding this to my NextDNS exclusions resolved the issue immediately.
